50 AI Filmmaking Directions

Camera movements, shot types and creator shorthand for directing AI video, with a copyable prompt for every one.

By Chloe · 12 min read · Free guide

These are filmmaking terms and practical prompting phrases, not secret Google Flow commands. Models can interpret the same direction differently, so start with one main camera move and generate a few versions.

A simple prompt formula

Shot or angle + camera movement + subject and action + speed or mood

Example
Low-angle medium shot. The camera slowly dollies in as a woman opens an old wooden door, tense cinematic mood.

01Framing and camera angles

Quick tips for better results

  • Use one main camera move per short clip.
  • Add speed words such as slow, gentle, fast, or sudden.
  • Say what must stay visible, including the person’s face and clothing.
  • Describe the subject’s action separately from the camera’s action.
  • If a short phrase gives a strange result, rewrite it as a full sentence.
  • Generate a few versions. Motion quality varies between models and generations.
